Join us for our inaugural Engineers Without Borders Welcome Evening!
We will delve into what EWB does and our plans for this year. This will include information on our Outreach Programme, Designathon, and new for this year our Engineering for Impact Consultancy Programme. This will be a great chance to meet this year's committee and get to know others in the society.
We will also be joined by guest speaker Conor McGlacken, Lead Design Engineer for Splash, Director at Pleatfold and previous Trustee at Engineers Without Borders UK. Conor will discuss his time providing Lead Design Engineer services to Splash through his consultancy Pleatfold, designing theft-resistant water taps to provide water coverage at schools in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He will discuss his time working in humanitarian engineering and what he has gained from being a part of Engineers Without Borders.
There will be free pizza! We will head to a pub after the event to continue getting to know each other.
Engineers Without Borders Welcome Evening is for everyone - regardless of department or year group. We are a multidisciplinary society, who value input from everyone. We hope the evening is warm and welcoming for all those who are new at Bristol, yet still informative and relevant to those joining us from older year groups, who may be thinking about careers tangential to globally responsible engineering. We would love to see you there!
