Academic Reps are the elected students who represent their cohorts on academic issues to the University and help make positive change to improve the student experience.

Faculty Reps
Faculty Reps represent the issues and priorities of students in their faculty to staff at both faculty and university level. They do this by gathering feedback from Course Reps and other students, chairing Faculty Student Academic Rep Forums, joining Bristol SU’s Student Representatives' Assembly alongside SU democratic events and some Faculty Reps also represent students at University committees like Senate.
Gathering feedback from PGTs in Comparative Literature and Culture on supervision, course content, and interdisciplinary engagement
Representing student concerns around workload balance and access to academic resources
Promoting better communication between students and academic staff through School Student Academic Rep Forums
Encouraging participation in the PTES and other surveys to ensure voices are heard
Collaborating with other student reps to address shared challenges across the Faculty
SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING (ENGINEERING)
Chengshou Zhao
What I'm working on:
Gathering student feedback on course scheduling, lab facilities, and internship opportunities, and presenting these insights to faculty leadership
Strengthening communication amongst staff, student representatives, and departmental leadership to improve fairness in exam scheduling and ensuring a consistent support across all programmes
Collaborating with the Careers Service, alumni, and industry partners to organise networking and skills-workshop events that boost employability, enhance staff-student interaction, and promote interdisciplinary connections

What I'm working on:
Ensuring that every voice is heard and that our shared ideas are turned into meaningful action
Creating open and accessible communication channels where all students feel comfortable expressing concerns and suggestions
Facilitating dialogue, to build trust, and ensure that feedback is acted upon constructively
Problem-solving, and a commitment to fostering a sense of community
Encouraging opportunities for both academic collaboration and social connection, so that we can make the most of our shared experience

Ensuring student’s feedback shapes departmental decisions and improvements

What I'm working on:
Enhancing Student Comfort and Belonging by focusing on helping new students feel comfortable, included and supported within the cohort by promoting open communication and peer connections
Assessing Readiness and Support by gathering feedback on upcoming assessments, addressing student concerns, and sharing useful resources or suggestions with the faculty to ensure clarity and fairness
Focussing on Peer Wellbeing and Academic Balance by encouraging healthy study habits and open conversations around managing workload and stress as we approach assessment season
Promoting fun and community and activities that allow ourselves proper breaks from professional development/academia
